Measure A – Hotel Tax (Transient Occupancy Tax)

Benicia Hotel Tax

Shall the City of Benicia enact a measure protecting essential Benicia services, including:

  • maintaining police services
  • protecting 911 response times
  • maintaining local parks and library services
  • promoting economic development

by adopting an ordinance increasing the transient occupancy tax, paid by hotels and vacation rentals, from 9% to 13%, paid only by guests and tourists, providing approximately $250,000 annually for general governmental purposes, sunsetting in twelve years, subject to accountability by annual audits and an independent citizens’ oversight committee?

Measure B – Benicia Public Safety and Essential Services Measure

To protect Benicia’s essential public safety, city services, and facilities including:

  • maintaining police services,
  • protecting 911 and fire emergency response times,
  • maintaining local parks
  • preserving recreation and library services,
  • sustaining other vital city programs,

shall the City of Benicia enact a measure, by adopting a ¾ cent sales tax, for general government purposes, providing approximately $5,400,000 annually, under local control, with citizens’ oversight and annual audits, with a sunset date of twelve years?
