Military West Pedestrian Bridge Replacement and Barrier Removal Project

Scope

The Military West Pedestrian Bridge Replacement and Barrier Removal Project replaces the pedestrian bridge that was irreparably damaged and removed in 2023. Construction work consists of installation of a new single span prefabricated steel bridge over Military West at the Mary Farmar Elementary School, reinforced concrete bridge abutments, cast in drilled hole (CIDH) pier foundations, reinforced concrete deck, segmental retaining wall systems, asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pathways, fencing, grading, and site preparation.

Tentative Project Schedule

The work is tentatively scheduled to begin in June 2025 and be completed in October 2025.

Settlement agreement with Republic Services

Construction Hours

Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, some weekend work is possible

Potential Resident Impact

Traffic disruptions are possible along Military West during project construction. Temporary full road closures of Military West will be required during installation of the prefabricated pedestrian bridge. Dates of closures TBD. All traffic disruptions will be communicated in advance via City of Benicia press releases, "City of Benicia This Week" newsletter, and social media posts.
