The cities of Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun City, Vacaville and Vallejo, including the unincorporated areas of Solano County, are all participating in the Alert Solano emergency notification system. Solano County respects the privacy of all Alert Solano registrants and will keep all user information confidential. It will never be sold or released for commercial purposes.

The City of Benicia, and our neighboring agencies in Solano County, use the Alert Solano emergency notification system to deliver incident-specific information or potentially life-saving instruction to the precise geographic area(s) affected.  Emergency situations may include:

  • Severe weather, fires, floods, potential evacuations, and other emergencies
  • Major public safety incidents - gas leaks, road closures
  • Post-disaster information about shelters, transportation, or supplies
Emergency alerts are sent to residents on their preferred contact paths—cell phone, SMS, home phone, email, fax, pager and more—to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information. Residents listed in the Benicia 911 database are automatically subscribed to alerts by landline, but citizens can self-register, provide additional contact information or opt out.
“We are committed to ensure public safety, community awareness and emergency response. When critical information and public service announcements are available, we need to reach our residents as quickly and reliably as possible,” said Josh Chadwick, Fire Chief. “The Alert Solano emergency notification system allows the City of Benicia to disseminate this information across all types of devices; ensuring residents have access to real-time public information when they need it the most.”
