Garbage and Recycling Collection
Republic Services is the exclusive local franchise collector for residential recyclables, organics, yard waste, garbage and commercial refuse in the City of Benicia. Recycling services are available for businesses as well. Services include: office waste paper; cardboard; newspaper; mixed recyclables, organics and green waste collection.
- ORGANICS PROGRAM EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2022 - Weekly organics/green waste service began on October 1, 2022. Click Here for new Residential Services Guide. Kitchen pails will were delivered to residential customers during October and November 2022. If you did not receive one, contact Republic Services.
Residential Service:
City residents receive the following services:
- Weekly curbside garbage collection in 20, 32, 64 or 96 gallon containers
- Weekly curbside collection of recyclables (Additional carts at no cost)
- Weekly (began on 10/1/22) curbside collection of organics and green waste (Additional carts at no cost) (Fruits, vegetables, food scraps, and food soiled paper products allowed in green waste cart)
- Curbside collection of:
- Used motor oil and oil filters
- Household batteries*
- Cellphones/PDA’s*
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs*
- Small scrap and cast aluminum (not exceeding 40 pounds)
- Four (4) free on-call collections of additional green waste (collected in customer provided 32 gallon container) and/or additional cardboard (bundled)**
- Three (3) free on-call collections of additional garbage**
- Three (3) free curbside bulky item pickups (couch, water heater, mattress)**
