Update: Water Line Repair Underway
UPDATE: Water Line Repair Underway
Repairing the City’s main water transmission line is a complex process involving specialized parts and multiple steps to ensure a safe and long-lasting solution. City staff and contractors have developed a comprehensive repair plan and will begin work as soon as all parts arrive tomorrow morning. Repairs are expected to continue through the weekend.
The Stage 4 “Critical Water Shortage” emergency will remain in effect until further notice. Under this emergency, all Benicia residents, businesses, schools, and facilities are required to reduce water use by 40%.
How you can help:
-
Limit showers to 5 minutes or less
-
Only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads
-
Stop all non-essential outdoor water use. No landscape watering, car washing or pool filling.
The damage occurred near Goodyear Road and Morrow Lane. Traffic is being detoured via Parish Road to support repair efforts.
Benicia will temporarily rely on its secondary water source, Lake Herman. While the water may occasionally have an earthy taste or smell due to natural compounds, it remains safe to drink and meets all state and federal water quality standards.
City crews and contractors are working urgently to restore service. Regular updates will be provided through news media, email, and social media.
