Notice of Intermittent Flaring at Valero

The City of Benicia has been notified by Valero Benicia Refinery that intermittent flaring will be required starting today due to performing maintenance work on a processing unit. There may be visible, intermittent flaring during this process, lasting for the next several days. The flaring is a necessary safety precaution, being managed in accordance with Valero’s Flare Minimization Plan. There are no expected off-site impacts from this incident. Benicia Fire Department and Valero will continue to communicate with each other, Solano County and Bay Area Air Quality Management Districe about any flaring activity during this period. The City of Benicia will provide updates as necessary.
