Signal Lights Out at East Second and Rose Drive

Update: A new traffic signal controller cabinet was installed by the City's on-call traffic signal contractor on Monday, June 1, and the traffic signal was restored to normal operation. Please contact contact Dan Sequeira, PE, City Engineer, at or 707.746.4237 if you witness any irregular traffic signal operation at this or any other Benicia intersection.

A catastrophic failure of the signal light equipment at East Second Street and Rose Drive occurred yesterday. Public Works personnel have determined that a full replacement of equipment will be necessary at a cost of $16,000. It will be approximately 1-1/2 weeks before the lights can be replaced. In the meantime, the lights will be flashing red in all directions. Motorists are reminded to treat the flashing red lights as a 4-way stop. Please proceed with caution and courtesy. For questions or comments, please contact Dan Sequeira, deputy director of operations/city engineer at or 707.746.4240.
