City of Benicia Hosts Community Meetings on Program and Service Cuts for Resiliency Plan

Benicia, CA (January 20, 2024)—The City of Benicia is seeking feedback from residents in January through an online community survey, a virtual workshop and in-person town halls to receive input on the community’s priorities of programs and services that the city offers.

Virtual Workshops via Zoom

The virtual workshop will have an informational presentation and an opportunity to provide feedback through a virtual poll. The in-person workshop will have hands-on interactive activities and include opportunities to provide input on future cuts, ask questions to city staff or council members, and hear a presentation from the city manager. People are welcome to come and go at any time during the in-person workshops.

The City of Benicia is facing a structural financial imbalance, with approximately $6.5 million (10% of the City’s general fund budget) needed in ongoing program and service cuts to reach fiscal sustainability.

The Resiliency Plan will include the scope of programs offered under two funding scenarios, one if the general sales tax measure, Measure B, on the March 5, 2024, ballot is passed by voters, and another if the sales tax measure is not passed by voters, which would require the city to cut $6.5 million to the general fund budget.
