Update on Water Line Repair
We are making steady progress on repairs to the City’s main water transmission line.
Today, necessary supplies arrived, and work is in progress to patch and weld on the damaged section of the line. Upon patch completion, the next steps include backfilling the excavation site and gradually refilling the water line in the upcoming days.
Construction is expected to continue through the weekend. The mandatory 40% water conservation requirement will remain in place until at least Wednesday, September 24, to ensure the system stabilizes and service is fully restored. The City will notify residents when the conservation requirement is lifted.
We appreciate, and are relying on, the community’s continued cooperation and water-saving efforts as we work to safely restore the system.
How you can help:
-
Limit showers to 5 minutes or less
-
Only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads
-
Stop all non-essential outdoor water use. No landscape watering, car washing or pool filling
The damage occurred near Goodyear Road and Morrow Lane. Traffic is being detoured via Parish Road to support repair efforts. The cause of the damage is being assessed.
Benicia will temporarily rely on its secondary water source, Lake Herman. While the water may occasionally have an earthy taste or smell due to natural compounds, it remains safe to drink and meets all state and federal water quality standards.
Regular updates will be provided through news media, email, and social media.
