Measure R Educational Information Now Available

October 3, 2022 - During the November 2022 General Municipal Election, Benicia residents will be able to vote on Measure R: the Benicia Local Road Repair and Infrastructure Measure. If approved, the new three-quarters-cent sales tax would generate approximately $5 million in annual revenue to support general City services, such as repairing, paving and maintaining roads, fixing potholes, updating sidewalks, improving safe routes to schools, fixing aging storm drains and other road infrastructure projects.
Residents can find information about Measure R on the City’s recently launched informational webpage: BeniciaMeasureR.org. This webpage offers an overview of the ballot measure and addresses frequently asked questions. Between now and election day, the City will also update the page with a series of informational videos that address resident questions.

How Measure R will appear on your November 2022 ballot:
Benicia Local Road Repair and Infrastructure Measure. Shall the City of Benicia enact a measure raising local funds under local control for general government purposes, including:
- repairing, paving and maintaining deteriorating streets;
- fixing potholes;
- improving safe routes to schools;
- protecting local creeks and the bay from toxins and pollution by fixing aging, deteriorating storm drains;
by adopting a ¾ cent sales tax, providing approximately $5,000,000 annually, with citizens’ oversight and annual audits, until ended by voters?
To vote on Measure R in the City of Benicia, you need to register to vote by the October 24, 2022 deadline:
- Check your registration voter status on the State of California's Voter Status website.
- Go to the California Online Voter Registration webpage to register.
