Adult Pickleball

Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is played on a badminton-sized court, using a modified tennis net, and players use a paddle and plastic ball. It appeals to people of all ages and ability levels, but is one of the fastest growing sports for ages 50+ for its social aspects and the ability to stay active in a fun sport. Pickleball is offered on a drop in basis at both the Benicia Community Center (one court) and the Benicia City Gym (2 courts).  Outdoor Pickleball courts are available at the Benicia Community Park, located in the roller hockey rink between the skate park and the dog park.

INDOOR COURTS
Drop in play is available at the City Gym (180 East L) and at the Benicia Community Center (370 East L).  Please check the calendar for currently scheduled times.  Days and times are subject to change.
  • Drop in Fees:
    • Drop in fee at Benicia Community Center: $2 
    • Drop in fee at City Gym - $4.25/res; $5.25/non-res 
    • Please bring correct change for drop in fees.  Fee is due upon entry.

Beginners are encouraged to come to open play at the gym to watch a few games.

Pickleball Instruction:  Each month we will offer an introduction to, and instruction on how to play the game of pickleball at the Benicia Community Center.  We encourage you to arrive at 2:45pm to have the opportunity to see the game in play, and then instruction will begin at 3pm.  Instruction is free; entry fee of $2 is required.


OUTDOOR COURTS
There are 8 outdoor courts that have been added to the tennis courts at Benicia Middle School.  Courts may be accessed via the pedestrian gate that is closes to the baseball fields.  Courts are ONLY available outside of school hours (after 4:30pm when school is in session); all day on the weekends, holidays and school breaks.  There are no permanent nets installed, so you can bring your own portable net - OR - to access nets that are in a locked container onsite, you can connect with Benicia Pickleball on FB, or call our office during office hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm).
