Fire Code Permit Applications

Instructions:

1. Checklist - Download and review the applicable guidelines and checklists below.

2. Application - Submit a Fire Code Permit application using the yellow "Apply Here" button on this webpage. This application must be submitted and paid at least ten business days before the event or (if annual) by January 1 of each year.

3. Fees - Before your permit can be issued, you must pay all applicable fees. Your invoice will be sent to your email, and you will be able to pay online either through bank transfer or credit card (there is a fee for credit card payment). If you would like to pay in person, Fire Station 11 accepts cash and checks by appointment. For an appointment, please call Fire Station 11 at 707-746-4275.

4. Inspection - A representative from the fire department will call and schedule an inspection. The inspection can occur before the event or on the day of the event. If the event is a part of one of the city's major city events, inspections will occur the morning before the event starts. If this is an annual permit for a repetitive event such as the Farmer's Market, only one inspection is required on the first day of operation. All permit issuance will be contingent upon passing a fire inspection and meeting the applicable conditions listed below.

5. Operation - The issued permit shall be posted conspicuously and readily available for review by any city official. Operations not in compliance with Benicia Fire Department policies and procedures shall result in the suspension of operations and activities.
