YOUTH CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
August 10-August 14, 2026
8:00am - 2:00pm each day
Benicia Middle School, 1100 Southampton Road
Who can attend? - Students entering 7th or 8th grades
(open to Benicia residents or non-residents that attend a school located in Benicia)
Spend a week with members of the Benicia Police Department as you actively learn about the following topics:
Criminal Law
Crime Scene Investigation
Dangerous Drugs
Ethics/Character/Intergrity
Equipment demos
Evidence collection
Gun safety (discussion only)
Internet safety/cyber bullying
Operation of a police radar gun
Peer support
Scenario investigationScenario crime scene

BENICIA CITIZENS ACADEMY
Join us for this 6 week course exploring policing with the Benicia Police Department. The academy is designed for all Benicia residents and individuals that work in Benicia, 18 years of age and older - at no cost!!
Applications are located using the link below, or can be picked up in the PD lobby.
Monday and Wednesdays (and 2 Saturdays for special training - TBD)

Benicia Citizen's Academy APPLICATION
DEA NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY
CHECK BACK FOR 2027 DATE - event takes place in April every year
10am - 2pm
Benicia Police Department, 200 East L Street
This program is anonymous, and all efforts will be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made.
Law enforcement personnel will be overseeing the surrender process to ensure collection site protocols are adhered to.
All participants must retain possession of their own medications during the surrender process. Law enforcement personnel will not handle the medications at any time prior to, and during placement into the designated disposal boxes.
Law enforcement personnel will not count, inventory, or log medications being surrendered.
If an original container is surrendered, we encourage you to remove all identifying information from the prescription label.
WHAT IS ALLOWED FOR COLLECTION:
• Prescription Medication Pills/Capsules (in original container, sealed bag or loosely poured directly into the collection box)
• Over-the-Counter Pills/Capsules
• Pet Prescription Medication
• Liquid Medication(tightly sealed in original container) *Ex: Cough Syrup
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED FOR COLLECTION:
• Vape Devices or E-cigarettes
• Liquids other than Liquid Medication
• Creams
• Intravenous Solutions
• IV Bags
• Oxygen Tanks
• Nebulizer Machines
• Inhalers
• Thermometers
• Sharps
• Batteries
• Anything that is NOT listed in the "allowed for collection" section
