Your Rights Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that, "No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, or be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

The City of Benicia, California, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes, strives to ensure that access to, and use of, all programs, services, or benefits derived from any activity will be administered without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or socioeconomic status.

How to File a Complaint

Any person who believes that he/she, or as a member of a specific class of persons, has been discriminated against by the City of Benicia, California, on the basis or race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability may file a complaint of discrimination under Title VI related statues. The complaint must be filed within one hundred and eighty (180) days of the date of alleged discrimination.
